Welcome to First Grade!
Hi! I’m Erin Ashmore, and I’m so happy to welcome you to our first-grade classroom!
I have had the wonderful privilege of teaching in the Centralia School District for 29 years, and Fords Prairie Elementary has been my homebase school throughout my entire career. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten, first, second and third grade. I love these early years of school and the excitement, curiosity, and growth that children bring to the classroom each day.
I am also a proud Centralia High School alumna, so being able to teach and serve the children and families in the community where I grew up is especially meaningful to me.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Saint Martin’s University and my Master’s degree in Literacy from Lesley College. I have always had a special passion for literacy and helping children discover the joy and excitement of learning.
First grade is such a magical year! I love watching students grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, thinkers, and friends. My goal is to create a classroom where children feel safe, cared for, encouraged, and excited to come to school each day. I believe learning should be meaningful, joyful, and filled with opportunities for every child to shine.
After 29 years, I still feel incredibly lucky to be a teacher. I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, laughing, and making memories together!
Welcome to our first-grade family!
