Welcome to 6th Grade!

Welcome to 6th grade! I am Mrs. Nailon, and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and making this a fun, successful, and memorable year.

This is my 8th year teaching and my first year at Fords Prairie Elementary. I started my teaching career as a 5th grade teacher at Olympic Elementary School in Longview, WA. I played college volleyball at Lower Columbia College, where I also earned my Associate’s Degree. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governors University and my Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University in Elementary Literacy. I am also completing my practicum through Seattle Pacific University as I work toward my Health and Physical Education credential.

My family and I love living in Centralia and spending time outdoors around our farm. We have four children: Nokona (9), Walter (5), Hank (3), and Elouise (1). When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing sports, being outside, spending time with my family, and helping my husband with his business, Blast Zone Media, which covers local athletics from Woodland to Toledo.

Volleyball has been a big part of my life for many years. I have been coaching volleyball for 21 years and am currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Toledo High School, after spending 11 years as the Head Volleyball Coach at R.A. Long High School. I am also the Club Director for Cowlitz Volleyball Academy, based in Longview.

I believe that 6th grade is an exciting year filled with new opportunities, challenges, friendships, and growth. My goal is to create a classroom where every student feels welcomed, supported, challenged, and confident in their ability to learn. We will work hard, have fun, learn from our mistakes, and celebrate our successes along the way.

I can't wait to get started and meet all of you!
